As we end our phenomenal 2018 wedding season this past Saturday, we go back to our first of this year with Sara + David. When I say this lady is a hoot, I mean a HOOT! I have never had so much unexpected fun and surprises planning a wedding than with Sara. She kept me laughing and on my toes the whole time and most importantly, challenged my design eye by mixing patterns, bold colors and eclectic personal items. I met Sara about this time last year. It was the end of our 2017 season and right before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Sara wanted to get married! And she wanted to get married soon! Her original wedding date was set for early February 2018 for about 20 people, and was meant to be a small dinner party in her gorgeous, dark wood library in her Connecticut home. This was Sara's second marriage, and she didn't want a "big to do" (or so she said), Ha! As the planning went along, realizing she wanted to share this moment with more of her people, and hire an awesome band (!) we moved her wedding date to April -- to accommodate the band's schedule of course, and got a tent to fit 60 people! She said to me, "If we're going to do this, we're going to do this right!" I agree lady! Sara's design style absolutely had to complement her vibrant and vivacious personality and home. I have to admit, I took a lot of inspiration from her house -- bold colors, dark woods, cowhide rugs, and all the vintage you could possibly dream of! I love that house! We brought her home design ... outside. And we were still able to have her ceremony in the library. Fleurescent came in strong with jewel-toned florals in purples, fuchsias, royal blues and corals, and an entrance centerpiece that made my heart stop! Shindig Lighting, draped and lighted and hung floral and crystal chandeliers, and draped some more! BBJ Linen and Peak Event Services brought together the design with fun patterned linens and tabletop items and my dear friend Nichole from at Coral Pheasant Stationery teamed up with Bien Fait Calligraphy to make the most utterly delicious paper story for Sara + David. Their guests dined on farm to table eats cooked to perfection by Bailey's Backyard and danced the night away to Swing Band, Hot Cat Jazz under a clear top tent from Abbey Tent and Party Rentals. Although a chilly April night, it was perfect -- and totally Sara + David. Thank you Sara + David for putting your trust and home in the hands of our team. You are and will always be one of my favorite people to work with. Your stories about life and love have stayed with me since, and I have learned a lot from you about confidence, strength and resilience. You are a very special and unique woman, don't ever forget that. xoxo Planning + Design: Double G Events // Tent: Abbey Tent + Party Rentals // Photography: Landino Photo // Cinematography: Will Talamelli Films // Eats: Bailey's Backyard // Bagpiper: GMS Entertainment // Beats: Hot Cat Jazz // Floral Design: Fleurescent // Lighting + Drapery: Shindig Lighting // Paper + Stationery: Coral Pheasant // Calligraphy: Bien Fait Calligraphy // Agate Stones: Pike's Peak Rock Shop // Sweets: Lovely Cakes // Linen: BBJ Linen // Linen + Rentals: Peak Event Services // Valet: White Gloves Valet
