Melissa + Kyle! -- Ideal clients in every way possible. I knew we were meant to be the first time we met in person and Kyle described something as "dope"! Anyone who knows me, knows that is my word! Melissa may or may not have rolled her eyes at us, but I loved them anyway! Not to mention our mutual love for Biggie Smalls! Thanks for the blanket! :)
Their industrial and organic wedding journey started by finding the perfect venue. They wanted unique, industrial and open. Melissa being a environmental science nerd and self professed "tree-hugger" and Kyle being from Colorado, they also wanted an organic and woodsy feel to warm up the industrial space. We looked, and looked and looked -->> Connecticut, New York, Long Island City, Brooklyn ... you name it we looked! They finally fell in love with a venue in the Hudson Valley that was stunning! It check off all the boxes on their list, but we were a day late and a dollar short! Another couple had just "signed" a verbal contract the day before and they had seven days to claim it. And, they did, poop! Back to square one!
So I said, "Hey, what about an airplane hangar?" -- worth a shot right? To be honest, I don't think they were totally convinced until they saw the space at WestConn Aviation by OnTheMarc Events. It definitely checked off their must have boxes! Industrial, open, and super cool and unique! The organic and woodsy would be the brainchild of myself and Carrie Wilcox Floral Design, which I have to say, we nailed it with burnt oranges, potted plants and trees, YES TREES!
The only set back -- we needed to have their ceremony at another location. Luckily, Melissa's mom's house was only twenty minutes away! They had the best of both worlds that day, a personal, tented backyard wedding followed by a killer reception at an airplane hangar!
Thank you Melissa and Kyle for your patience and understanding my crazy ideas! I legit love. love you guys and am so happy we have the friendship we have. All our best and much love on your new journey together and building your new house! I can't wait to visit!

Stephanie and Kartik's jewel-toned, Art Deco wedding was full of bold colors, geometric shapes and patterns and most importantly, family tradition and authentic personal touches that made both weddings cohesively branded to them as a couple. Yes, I said 'both weddings'!
Their day started with an amazing outdoor brunch under a sailcloth tent on the grounds of The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, catered by the delicious Moghul Catering. Since we were condensing what would typically be a multiple day celebration in the Hindu tradition to only a few hours, it was super important to Stephanie, Kartik and their families to highlight the most meaningful aspects. Their design displayed Steph's love of rich emerald greens to coordinate with the golds, reds and purples of their Hindu brunch design. Floral installations followed, as well as low tables with poufs, pillows and stools for seating! Kartik's jam is gourmet coffee, so what would a brunch wedding reception be without made-to-order coffee from Source Coffee Bus, (a surprise from Steph)!
After the brunch food comas, their guests had a few hours to relax, eat lunch and sight-see on the beautiful shoreline of Old Saybrook, Conn., as we and the rest of the wedding team prepared for celebration round two at The Saybrook Point Inn + Spa!
Currently living in California, Stephanie + Kartik wanted to bring a little bit of the west coast to the east with a more formal art-deco vibe for their dinner, while still honoring tradition and rich, jewel toned colors. You have to check out that emerald green, VELVET linen from BBJ Linen! I wanted to nap on it! Completing their design were gold, geometric charger plates and votives, brass candlesticks and florals to die for from Fleurescent!
I loved, LOVED designing this wedding and more importantly, loved designing it with Stephanie. She was so gung-ho of out of box ideas and we played off each other so well!
Thank you Steph and Kartik for choosing us and trusting us for BOTH of your celebrations! We had such a great time planning this day with you, and these pictures are amazing! Much love! xoxo
